A sequel to It Follows is coming - They Follow

Horror fans can rejoice as we are finally getting a sequel to It Follows which will be titled They Follow.

It Follows tells the story of a young woman who is continually followed by a mysterious entity after having sex with her boyfriend. The only way to escape the haunting figures stalking her is by passing on the curse to someone else.

It received almost universal acclaim from critics and was a success at the box office, earning $23.3 million worldwide on a modest budget of $1.3m.

Fans have been clamouring for a sequel for years and it was finally confirmed this week. It will be called They Follow.

Maika Monroe will return as the protagonist of the first movie, Jay Height, with David Robert Mitchell also writing and directing the follow-up.

For 19-year-old Jay, fall should be school, boys and weekends at the lake. But after a seemingly harmless sexual experience, she is suddenly plagued by visions and nightmares. She constantly has the feeling that someone, or something, is chasing her. As the threat mounts, Jay and her friends must try to escape the atrocities that are after them.

What is the plot of They Follow?

The movie is still in the early stages of development so there are no concrete details on the plot yet.

However, Tom Quinn, co-president of Radius-TWC, which distributed the movie with Dimension Films, has hinted previously that a sequel could potentially see the narrative switched, with Jay hunting the origins of the mysterious entity instead of being followed herself.

“I don’t want to give away too much, but we’ve thought about it. Flip the title. There’s so much you could do," he said.
