A new Halloween television series is in development.
Jamie Lee Curtis first played the character of Laurie Strode in 1978's John Carpenter classic Halloween, where she successfully survived the murderous rampage of the masked serial killer, Michael Myers.
She has played the role in several other entries in the movie series, most of which received negative reviews, but the franchise received a popular reboot in 2018 with Halloween, which was followed by Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.
You would be forgiven for thinking the franchise is now on a bit of a break, but no, Malek Akkad's Trancas International Films has struck a deal with Miramax to produce a new TV series.
"We couldn’t be more excited to bring Halloween to television,” Miramax’s Head of Global TV Marc Helwig said in a statement.
"We are thrilled to expand our long and successful partnership with Trancas and the brilliant Malek Akkad in introducing this iconic franchise to a new form of storytelling and a new generation of fans."
According to Deadline, the plan is to create a TV and cinematic universe based on the Halloween franchise which means we could see fresh versions of Myers and Strode, and potentially a younger version of Samuel Loomis.
Miramax are planning numerous television series based on movies in their back catalogue, including Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Gangs of New York, Chocolat, The English Patient, Prêt-à-Porter, Project Greenlight and The Gentlemen.
