Elizabeth Olsen says she doesn't miss playing Wanda Maximoff / Scarlett Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as she is happy pursuing other roles.

The actress has appeared in numerous MCU projects as Wanda, including her own television series on Disney +, WandaVision. The character's fate was unclear at the conclusion of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in which Scarlett Witch was the primary antagonist.

At the moment, Olsen is promoting her latest series, Love & Death.

When asked by Variety if she misses appearing in Marvel movies, she replied:

"Do I miss it? I don't miss it. I just did two years straight of it.

"I think the break's been good for me. I need to build other characters. It's important for me. I'm grateful for this show (Love & Death), the show came at a great time, it was after playing Wanda for two years straight, and then I had to talk about it for a whole other year. So it's nice having something else to focus on and highlight and talk about."

Olsen has previously stated a desire to one day play Wanda again. However, she isn't involved in any Marvel projects currently.

"I'm not doing anything for Marvel right now," she insisted.

"Nothing, and it's not that I'm trying to be cheeky. They'll let me know when they'll let me know. I have no idea. Right now, I'm really unemployed."

Which Avengers scene did Olsen find 'embarrassing' to film?

By the events of Avengers: Infinity War, Wanda is in a relationship with Vision, played by Paul Bettany. At the conclusion of that movie, Vision dies after Thanos removes an Infinity Stone from his dead, despite Wanda's desperate attempts to save him.

It proved a tough scene for Olsen and Bettany.

"So, it’s very embarrassing shooting those kinds of things, because, like, the world depends on you doing it," she told Variety.

"And we did some improvising, which is hard to improvise those moments. But it also felt good, because at that point, Paul and I really had each other’s back. It was one of the last things we shot. I felt really comfortable with him as an actor if we had to improvise that beat a little bit. We were trying to find it, with the Russos guiding us.

When pressed as to why exactly it was embarrassing, she replied:

"Because you’re like — . Ugh, I’m doing this in public. But you have one hand out that’s stopping something with energy. And then you’ve got another hand that’s extracting this fake thing from this dotted face. And it’s painful and emotional."
