David Dastmalchian is desperate to land the role of the next villain in the James Bond series.
The 007 franchise is set to be revamped with the next movie after the era of Daniel Craig, who last appeared as Bond in 2021's No Time to Die. Producers are already far into their search for the next actor to don the tuxedo.
With Bond not even cast yet, nobody has really considered who might play the villain, but Dastmalchian, probably most famous for playing Polka-Dot man in The Suicide squad, reckons he would bring something never seen before to the role.
"It begins right now. So whoever is reading this, take it as a sign. You were meant to be reading this line at this moment as you're thinking about the future of what you guys are doing with this franchise," he told Slash Film.
"Trust me when I say that I can bring something to an enemy of 007, whether he or she or they be played in a way that no one has ever seen Bond brought to life before, which is of course the way that you guys always do it. I think there's no one to push Bond to the limits of their capabilities the way that I could, and I would love to do it. So there's my pitch to them.
"I can't wait for them to read this. And then I will owe you when or if I ever get that role, I guess 10 per cent."
Dastmalchian is also known for his roles in The Dark Knight, Ant-Man, Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049 and Dune.
The front-runner to become Bond
Numerous names have been linked with the Bond role over the past couple of years including Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Kit Harrington, Rege Jean-Page, Sam Heughan, Paul Mescal and Richard Madden.
According to reports, there is one actor who is currently the favourite - Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
“Aaron went for a screen test to be the next Bond in September and producers and Barbara loved him," a source told The Sun.
"He is now one of the front-runners… Aaron has impressed bosses so much that he has filmed one of the franchise’s famous gun barrel teaser scenes, something all the Bond actors do. That move takes him a step closer to signing a deal. Bosses at the brand were really impressed with his unique blend of acting intensity and his impressive back catalogue of action films.”
Franchise producer Barbara Broccoli has previously confirmed that we will not see a younger version of Bond, which means an actor mid-30s and older will likely be cast.
Taylor-Johnson, known for hits like Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Nowhere Boy and Bullet Train, turned 33 this summer and could be 34 when filming finally begins
