The big break in Dakota Johnson's film career was when she was cast as Anastasia "Ana" Steele in the Fifty Shades trilogy. Whilst the films themselves were not critically well-received, the hype following the massive success of the books helped to propel the movies to a worldwide audience and millions at the box office.

Who are Dakota Johnson's parents?

Johnson's parents are Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, two actors in their own right. 

Speaking to W Magazine back in 2022, Dakota revealed that she was initially discouraged by her parents from getting into the acting game. "See how well that turned out? But I understood. They wanted me to have as much of a childhood as I could."

Her mother Melanie Griffith elaborated further on this during an interview with Vanity Fair, saying "I knew how tough it was to navigate all of the aspects of filmmaking, and I hope she learned some good tips from me!
