Chris Pine has commented on the ridiculous internet speculation that Harry Styles spat on him at the Venice Film Festival while promoting Don't Worry Darling.
During the first showing of the movie, Styles took his seat next to Pine and some fans online falsely speculated that the singer actually spat on his co-star - something which didn't happen.
It was the latest in a lone line of controversies surrounding Don't Worry Darling after rumours circulated that director Olivia Wilde and star Florence Pugh fell out on the set. Pugh subsequently took a backseat during most of the promotions for the movie.
The spitting rumours, at least, have been confirmed as nonsense by Pine.
"Harry's a very, very kind guy. I was on the plane with my publicist we're flying back from Venice and she wakes me up in a state," he told Esquire.
"She says, 'We have to craft a message about what happened in Venice.' And I'm like, 'About what?' 'About Harry spitting on you.'
"Which, I had no idea what happened. She showed me the thing. It does look, indeed, like Harry spitting on me. He didn't spit on me."
A joke between Pine and Styles
Pine explained that Harry simply reached in close to him and said something that the pair had been exchanging in relation to the tiring press tour for Don't Worry Darling.
"It's just words," an in-joke between the pair.
"We had this little joke, because we're all jet-lagged, we're all trying to answer these questions, and sometimes when you're doing these press things, your brain goes all befuddled, you know, you start speaking gibberish, and we had a joke like, 'It's just words, man,'" the Star Trek actor explained.
