Music biopics are coming thick and fast in Hollywood these days and the next superstar for the biography treatment is legendary AC/DC frontman Bon Scott.
In recent years we've seen plenty of music biopics including Elvis, Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, Respect, Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody, George & Tammy, and Pistol.
A Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothee Chalamet is in the pipeline.
AC/DC's Scott passed away from alcohol poisoning in 1980, but his legacy lives on with the band, who have continued to perform with Brian Johnson as the frontman.
With Scott in the band, they enjoyed a meteoric rise in the 1970s thanks to albums like High Voltage, Powerage and Highway to Hell.
“Focusing on his formative years in Fremantle allows for a deeper dive into the influences and events that shaped him as a person and ultimately as the iconic frontman of AC/DC, It also provides an opportunity to explore the cultural landscape of the time, including the burgeoning music scene and social dynamics of the era,” a statement from HALO films reads.
“It’s an approach that allows for creative interpretation while still honouring the essence of Scott’s journey.”
It is still very early in the production process, so it will be a while before we get casting details.
AC/DC recently announced their first European tour in eight years which includes two shows at Wembley Stadium.
