These movies are not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but according to Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider, there was going to be a crossover which would have seen Garfield reprise his role as Peter Parker in Madame Web. The actor previously made a shocking return as his version of Peter in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside fellow Spideys Holland and Tobey Maguire.
Sneider reports that the initial plan was for Garfield to feature, then those plans changed for Holland to show up. However, it took Sony that amount of time to realise that a Holland appearance wouldn't make sense as Madame Web takes place in the early 2000s, well before Holland's version of Peter.
So, there will now be no Spider-Man at all in the movie.
The official premise of Madame Web reads:
'Cassandra Webb is forced to confront her past while trying to survive with three young women with powerful futures who are being hunted by a deadly adversary.'
It stars Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, Emma Roberts and Zosia Mamet.
