Aaron Taylor-Johnson has commented on the recent speculation that he is the front runner to become the next James Bond.
Following Daniel Craig's last outing as 007 in No Time to Die, and even before that, the casting rumour mill went into overdrive, with fans and news outlets mentioning various names who could potentially play Bond.
According to OddsChecker, Taylor-Johnson is favourite for the role.
Even though the actor is happy to be in the conversation, he admits it would be silly of him to believe unsubstantiated news reports.
"It's flattering," he told Vanity Fair.
"You can have something really positive (written about you), but you can also have something really negative that can circulate. You just want to stay in your lane, stay grounded, stay around the people that you love and love you back, and stay in that world.
"The moment you start believing the s**t people say about you, you've lost your f**king mind. You've lost it."
Idris Elba will not be the next Bond
One man who recently pulled himself out of the race to become Bond is Idris Elba.
Producer Barbara Broccoli even revealed previously that he was in contention, telling Deadline:
"Well, we know Idris, we're friends with him, and he's a magnificent actor. And, you know, it's been a part of the conversation, but it's always difficult to have the conversation when you have someone in the seat."
That actor himself has now ruled himself out of the running, however, and considers the role of John Luther to be his main franchise focus.
"You know, a lot of people talk about another character that begins with 'J' and ends with 'B', but I'm not going to be that guy," he told reporters in Dubai.
"I'm going to be John Luther. That's who I am."
