Trail to Gunsight plot

"A TWO-GUN TROUBLE SHOOTER RIDDING The RANGE OF RUSTLERS!"

Sheriff Deputy Dan Creede chases a group of bank robbers to a shack and a shootout ensues. When he enters the hut, he finds the body of a man with the last name Wagner and he thinks he shot him himself. Creede quits his job and decides to become a foreman on the Wagner ranch. The bank robbers, who are actually the man's killers, also arrive at the ranch and learn that Creede has not told the family that he thinks he is the killer. Creede becomes attached to the Wagner's son, and the bank robbers threaten to kill him unless he lets them take the family's herd of cows.
