"All the fire . . . power . . . drama . . . of A.B. Guthrie's monumental best-seller!"
Fort Brock, Montana, c. 1880. Ambitious cowboy Albert Gallatin 'Lat' Evans has big plans for his life. Lat borrows money from his girlfriend, the saloon dancer Callie. With this money, Lat buys a ranch and then dumps Callie, in favor of the educated Joyce, a niece of the banker. Lat then aspires to a political position as a senator. For this position, Lat is forced to join a posse to track down his best friend Tom Ping, who once saved his life but is now a cattle thief. Because it could jeopardize his career, Lat doesn't intervene when Tom Ping is lynched. However, it looks like Lat will repent when he is injured while trying to protect Callie from an attack by the corrupt landowner Jehu.
