The Wooden Gun plot

Two men find that the harder they try to escape the gallows, the closer they get to fate. Jake Finney is a revolver who is arrested by a sheriff who is eager to see him dangling from a rope as soon as possible. On his way to prison, Jake meets fellow inmate Steve West, a second-rate horse thief. Steve discovers that Jake has plans to escape using a wooden revolver that looks realistic enough. Steve offers Jake gold in exchange for his help to also take Steve with him on his escape. After their escape, the two men flee towards the Canadian border with the sheriff close behind.
