Ranger Rod Saunders is murdered by a gang and his brother Lucky Saunders vows to avenge his brother. The gang, aided by a businessman in the city, terrorizes the inhabitants. Anse Rankin organizes a vigilante because he feels the Rangers are not up to the task. Rankin's intent is to force the ranchers to pay for protection from the gang. Lucky Saunders resigns from the Rangers and pretends to join the gang.
