The Only Road plot
Nita, a vegetable vendor in a sleepy California town, believes herself to be the daughter of poor ranch hands Manuel and Rosa Lopez. When she travels to the city, she is attacked by Pedro Lupo, the son of attorney Ramon Lupo. She is defended by Bob Armstrong, an East Coast native who is visiting his father's wealthy girlfriend, Clara Hawkins. When Pedro learns that Nita is actually Clara Hawkins' daughter, stolen at birth and long presumed dead, he insists that she marry him, but she refuses.
