The Only Good Indian plot
Kansas, early 20th century. The young Indian teenager Charlie is taken away from his family and forcibly placed in an Indian school where he has to get used to the way of life of the whites. He escapes to return to his family. The bounty hunter Sam Franklin is hired to track him down again. Franklin is a former Army Scout with Cherokee blood in his veins. He has distanced himself from his original identity because he believes that the white way of life is the only way for Native Americans to survive. Along the way, things lead to Franklin's old enemy, Sheriff Henry McCoy, who also gives chase to the boy, as well as Franklin himself.
