Song of the West plot
"100% Natural Color"
Kansas, c. 1850. At a military fort, Lieutenant Singleton is in love with Virginia, the daughter of the colonel and commander of the fort. Singleton meets Captain Stanton, who has been rejected by Virginia for falling into a love triangle with him and one Davolo. After a war of words with Davolo, Stanton kills him. Singleton has Stanton arrested for murder at the request of Colonel. Stanton manages to escape and travels disguised with settlers to California. To Stanton's surprise, Virginia also appears to be part of the settlers. Tired of the gossip at the fort, Virginia falls in love with Stanton again. As the journey progresses, Stanton's pangs of conscience grow and he wonders if he's good enough for Virginia.
