After naive and destitute miner Jess Collins rescues Sonny Grover from two men who claimed to lay claim to his mine and molested him, he heads to Colton City. There, Jess finds out that Sonny is not very popular and the people even turn against him because he helped Sonny. Somewhat later, during a stagecoach robbery, Sonny even wants to kill Jess. Despite his peace-loving nature, Jess now decides to hunt Sonny over to hand him over to the sheriff.
