Mexican farmer Joaquin Murrieta avenges his wife's death, killing four Americans. Murrieta is now seen as an outlaw and the reward for his capture is further increased when he also takes on his brother's killers. Murrieta joins the bandit Three Fingered Jack and raises a veritable army of disappointed Mexicans who make life miserable for the Americans. That eventually leads to his former friend Bill Warren leading a vigilante who must arrest Murrieta.
