Raiders of the South plot
"Rugged story of the old brawling west...when the Lone Star State was young!"
Former Confederate officer Johnny Brownell is now a federal agent. Johnny is sent to Texas during the Reconstruction years to gather evidence against a gang of robbers who make the lives of the local Union fortune seekers difficult. Johnny saves the life of Shorty Kendall, a maladjusted rebel who was about to be hanged. Johnny thus gains the gratitude of the widow Belle Chambers, whose husband was killed during the American Civil War and who has hated all Yankees ever since, and who turns out to be at the head of a gang of robbers.
