Competing horse breeders Adams and Brock Danvers are both vying for a contract to supply horses to the military. When Adams is killed while riding his horse Trigger, itinerant cowboy Roy Rogers saves the horse before it is killed too. Roy offers Kim, the daughter of the slain horse breeder Adams, to train Trigger so that he can take the horse in an important horse race.
