President Ulysses S. Grant orders Native American fighter Johnny MacKay to negotiate with the Modoc tribe, who live in northern California and southern Oregon. On the way to the Modocs, Johnny must accompany Nancy Meek, who is on her way to her aunt and uncle. Nancy and Johnny are ambushed by Captain Jack, the leader of a group of disowned Modocs. It will have to come to a man-to-man fight between Johnny and Captain Jack.
