After finding a vital passage through the Canadian Rockies to build the Canadian Pacific Railway, Tom Andrews tells his boss Cornelius Van Horne that he is quitting his job to marry the girl of his dreams, Cecille Gautier. Through Cecille, Tom gets to know the trapper Dirk Rourke, who fears the coming of the railway, because he threatens the lives of the Indians and the other trappers. Tom and Rourke argue about Cecille and Tom asks her to wait for him while he finishes his job on the railroad.
