Farrier John Wellington flees Virginia after killing two men in an argument, leaving behind his young son Johnny Junior. Johnny Jr. is now being raised by Sir George Thorne, the wealthiest citizen in town. The adult Johnny Jr. goes to New Mexico in search of Thorne's daughter, who has married a Winters against her father's will. The daughter appears to have died. Winters now runs a ranch under the name Gentry with his daughter Gail. Johnny's father John Sr. now turns out to be at the head of a band of outlaws under the name Rand and befriend Winters. Then comes John Sr. find out that Johnny is his son, whom he left years ago. However, a bloody confrontation between the two men seems inevitable.
