After review, I add half a point to 4.5 *.

Where I found the colors irritating last year, it now helped to enhance the atmosphere. Shouldn't have been any different with the colors, good choice from Verbong. In my memory I thought that the red color of the hair more often faded into another object, but this was not so bad. Well done!

I myself had the feeling that this was all natural, that I was looking at a part of Hannie Schaft's life, which is portrayed astonishingly well by Renee Soutendijk. A number of strong supporting roles, including Peter Tuinman and Lou Landré.

In the beginning, a number of actors spoke unnaturally, as if they were reading the text from a piece of paper. Fortunately, this didn't happen throughout the movie.

The beautiful images are supported by beautiful music by Nicola Piovani. Provided a special atmosphere.

Actually a film that I don't think fits Ben Verbong, but by far his best. And that too with his debut film. Too bad he was never able to match this level.

Actually, the title of this film is the only thing that is totally disappointing. Rather, the suspicion arises of a naughty comedy, while this concerns shocking aspects of the war happenings. At first I didn't think the scenario was that powerful, except for a few very strong scenes (the attacks), but in the end the whole thing grabs the mind. Renée Soutendijk puts in a strong performance and transcends this film as it were.

Chris Lomme is the welcome Belgian contribution to this Dutch white/black film, which in fact, in terms of quality and cinematic possibilities, has struggled to withstand the times.

Strong resistance drama that does not convince across the board but nevertheless makes an impression. The camera work and the soundtrack were especially beautiful and Soutendijk was also good in the lead role. yields, but the film also occasionally gives a somewhat surreal look, I did not think it was entirely successful. The dialogues were also not always strong and sometimes a bit stiff. For the rest, The Girl with the Red Hair was a fascinating film, although the level of comparable films such as the Attack, Soldier of Orange and Pastorale 1943.
