Deuxième Bureau contre Kommandantur plot

1917, a small occupied village of Saint-Quorentin. The Abbot Caillard hides French supporters in his church and facilitates their flight towards the Allied lines. Colonel von Niederstoff, head of the German garrison, demands that Lieutenant Heim dismantle the enemy network. With Heim's permission, Sergeant Stiefel, who speaks excellent French, manages to pass himself off as a refugee, but is unmasked and executed by Airvault, one of the figures of the resistance, without the consent of the abbot.
