Chi to Suna plot

In the final days of World War II, Sergeant Kosugi is sent to China as punishment for beating a superior. His commander, Captain Sakuma, is false and dictatorial. Sakuma makes Kosugi responsible for training a group. This group consists of men who used to be part of the military brass band. Kosugi must now somehow get these clumsy soldiers ready for battle.
