1922. The young composer and pianist, Olwen Trevelyan, has been troubled of late due to her inability to finish the final notes of her composition, until one day she is found dead on the rocks of Cornwall. Olwen's sister Julia obsessively keeps the memory of Olwen alive within her family. Twenty-five years later, on the anniversary of Olwen's death, the whole family gathers around the radio set to listen to a broadcast of 'The Dream', Olwen's unfinished composition. Suddenly a young woman enters the room, sits down at the piano and starts playing along to the music on the radio. Claiming she has amnesia, she is cared for by Julia. Julia begins to believe that the woman is a reincarnation of her deceased sister.
