Before 'die Wende', the fall of the Wall, Walter had an excellent job as a director in the former GDR. After that Wende, he hardly has any chances on the labor market in a completely different system. His wife Sylvia has to earn a living while Walter tries to escape from reality and find fulfillment in nighttime wanderings through the city.
