The story is well put together, because the tension builds up gradually. Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh are also nice girls, which makes the film well worth watching. But no top.

Not great, but a decent 90s product and perhaps slightly better than other erotic thrillers such as Sliver, The Last Seduction and Jade, just to name a few. I didn't know that SWF was erotically charged, by the way not a fact that adds anything for me, luckily it stays with a little bit.

SWF starts out predictably, but the introduction of JJ Leigh makes up for a lot. Where I usually find Leigh, with that sour mouth and terrible intonation of hers, a horror of a female, she actually convinces as a timid teenage girl with her dark hair color, something that looks good. Predictable, on the other hand, is the development with Allie, an absolute opposite of the inscrutable Hedy. The band is nice but no less predictable, but also the copy rage. Something that immediately stands out, especially with regard to the twins that could be seen in the beginning.

SWF then does not develop into a very credible, but entertaining story, where the question is how far Hedy will actually go and at what cost. That she has a hidden past is clear from the start, and that she goes far is also clear. The final battle also borders on the unbelievable at certain moments, but those are things I prefer in this film that mainly has suspense as its main goal.

Just nice for once, and above all, decent.

Often 90's thrillers are still fine in this time and are often even better than what you get now, but sometimes they are very old in terms of everything....

Single White Female is one of those films where you immediately have the feeling of "what have I put on?".

It is a very empty film, little ambiance, often no more than 2 to 3 people in the picture, hardly any background noise and no high-quality acting.

There is little interesting story in the beginning and it comes across as a romantic film, in which 2 lovers have their ups and downs.
Jennifer Jason Leigh also regularly appears with a bare torso, which is not immediately appropriate in the story.
(Or maybe because it's not about anything yet)

It gradually becomes clear that she is becoming more and more strange in her behavior and from that moment on the film starts to fascinate more and there is also enough tension in it.

In the end, Jennifer Jason Leigh puts down a nice role as crazy killer and the film still has a nice climax.

I saw this movie once when it came out as a "new day movie in the video library" and it has always stuck with me that this was a very good movie.
I think this was it for the time (1992) too.
Good enough for now to review, not a great one but certainly not bad despite the mediocre start!

Spacious 7
3*
