App plot

Anna Rijnders (Hannah Hoekstra) completely shuts herself up in the world of apps and social media. After a party where she has looked too deep into the glass, she sees that a stranger has put an app on her phone that seems to have all the information about her situation and that of her friends. When her friends die one by one, she understands that the app is more than a simple trick.

What is it with Dutch acting? What a drama always. I think it has a high irritation factor and it is normally the reason not to watch Dutch films. I wanted to make an exception for App because I found the plot interesting. And if this had been a Hollywood production, it would have been enough. But the acting... that creates more interference than the whole app.

And the lead actress looked like Emma Watson. It was like I was watching Hermione Granger the whole time

2.5*

Actually, everything with Hannah Hoekstra in the lead role is worth it, a clearly talented and of course also super nice actress to watch.

The story is predictable, the elaboration is fairly entertaining and it was smart to opt for a short playing time, because we saw all this before and certainly better.

It's worth it for once, no thorn in the side.

2.5*

After watching this again, I've lost a full star and so from a 3.5 to a 2.5/5. I actually thought it was quite poor and not that exciting, it came across as really bland.
