The City and the City plot

Inspector Tyador Borlú, of the Serious Crimes Department in the European city of Besźel, is investigating the murder of Mahalia Geary, a foreign student who was found dead with a disfigured face. He soon learns that Geary was involved in the political and cultural unrest in the towns of Besźel and Ul Qoma. Borlú begins his research in Beszél.
