I Am Mother plot

"She’ll keep you safe."

A teenage girl is raised underground by a robot, Mother, designed to bring humans back to Earth after destruction. Their unique bond is strained when a strange woman is found and taken in by the teen. The woman casts doubt on the girl who previously took everything from Mother about the outside world. With no idea who to trust, the girl tries to find out the truth.

Nice movie in which a girl is raised by a robot in a closed facility. An excellent set-up in which the film mainly remains entertaining because you keep wondering what is going on in the outside world. However, the film could have easily been a lot shorter. The young Clara Rugaard does well in the lead role.

Nice sci-fi thriller. An entertaining story that will keep you interested until the very end. Enough tension and you constantly wonder where it's going, the ending is nice too. It all looks great and the two-piece cast plays properly. Great movie!

Philosophical sf film about the ethics of artificial intelligence.

Mother 'save' humanity, which is in the process of destroying itself, by wiping out almost everyone and raising an 'improved' humanity. Against the suffering it causes is the happiness of billions of future people who otherwise would never have been there. This is rationally justifiable, but ethically?

This issue is quite topical: Think of the dilemmas a self-driving car can face (pedestrian death or passenger death?) or figures like Elon Musk, who seriously warn of an unethical superintelligence in the near future.

So I thought the movie was interesting. Other than that, it's what Flat Eric says: little action, no brilliant acting, sets or effects, but it remains intriguing: what's going on who are the good guys and who are the bad guys? You get more or less an answer to the first question, although many things remain unexplained. You can come up with your own answer to the second question. Many people do not like the latter and that will explain the relatively low average score.
