Zwischen Uns die Berge plot

Beat Matter (Hannes Schmidhauser) has decided to serve with the Swiss Guard in Rome for two years. Before leaving for Rome, he falls in love with the attractive Jacqueline Escher (Nelly Borgeaud), the betrothed of his best friend Dominik (Peter Arens). When Dominik then enters into a fight with him, he is seriously injured. Once in Rome, Beat feels serious guilt and wants to join the Foreign Legion. He then encounters Jacqueline in Rome, who tells him that Dominik has fully recovered from their battle, but is now battling a serious illness.
