Romanze in Venedig plot

She was supposed to say yes, but when Andrea von Bruggern discovers that her husband-to-be already has a child with another woman, she flees to the dismay of her family and other wedding guests. She goes into hiding in Venice, where she meets the famous pianist Stefan. They fall in love, she becomes pregnant, but luck is still a long way off: the artist also appears to already have a wife. Furious, Andrea von Bruggern returns to her father's estate, where she gives birth to her child. The pianist knows nothing about it, but the boy is clearly his child: he is such a musical talent that he is already included in the Wiener Sängerknaben when he is six years old.
