The queen of a small Arab principality is very worried, because her sister Shirin is dying. Then a wizard appears at court who can heal the girl, but on one condition: the queen must sacrifice her own beauty. The princess does indeed heal quickly, but her sister has to hide her hideous face behind a veil from now on. Then disaster strikes again: both sisters fall in love with the handsome, but penniless painter Ferhad.
