Axel Roth (Heinz Rühmann) is an insignificant employee of a large company. He is not ambitious at all and is happy with his quiet private life. His wife Uschi (Hertha Feiler) is different. She wants him to make a career and she manages to get an invitation to a big party at the director's house.
