Terry Brogan, a football player who seems to have had his day, needs money. He decides to take an assignment from his dark friend Jake Wise and goes in search of his girlfriend Jessie, who is said to be in Mexico. She is also the daughter of a wealthy landowner who owns Terry's team.

This is definitely not as bad a movie as the average suggests. The only thing that annoyed me was the sudden presence of Sully in that Mexican temple, but otherwise this is an entertaining movie. And I say that emphatically, because the publicity of Against all Odds focused mainly on the sultry scenes between Bridges and Ward. No more time is spent on the romance than necessary and I certainly liked that. So this has mainly become a thriller about corruption practices and accompanying unsympathetic figures. Woods is good in his psychopath role and the absence of a happy ending I did not expect and I thought it was fine. I doubt very much between 3 and 3.5*.

Nice film about a football player who helps a friend track down a woman. The plot is unnecessarily complicated. The film has a nice atmosphere and of course there is also the beautiful title track by Phil Collins. Some beautiful exotic locations and the chemistry between Jeff Bridges and Rachel Ward is evident.
