De Nieuwe Moeder plot

Elvis, a ten-year-old boy from Latvia, has fallen into obstinate silence after the tragic death of his mother. For two years now, without any prospect of progress, he has been staying in an ailing children's hospital in Riga. The boy's father can no longer bear the suffering of his traumatized son and flees the dire situation in his country with him. In the hope of a better future for Elvis, he goes in the prosperous Netherlands in search of the woman with whom he had a lengthy correspondence in his youth.
