The Mantrap plot
The former head of Scotland Yard, Sir Humphrey Quilp, now lives a secluded life in rural New York. He drives his electric car with his friend Dr. Anatol Duprex, when they arrive at the scene of a terrible car accident. While police officers extinguish the fire caused by this accident, Humphrey and Anatol take care of Robert Berwick. Robert is a young math professor who injured his head in a collision with a tree. The driver of the car, Robert's uncle Patrick Berwick, did not survive the car accident. However, the next day, after examining the evidence, District Attorney Assistant William Knox and Detective Eddie Regan determine that Robert killed Patrick.
