This film is just almost the same as the elevator, only here the tension, the atmosphere and everything is missing.

Also in this movie again a blind man, young girl and everything else, even the end is the same.

No, give me the old elevator.

Dick Maas hoped with Do Not Disturb and this remake that his American career would take off (ba-dum-tsss), but alas; he did not go after Paul Verhoeven or Jan de Bont. If you watch Down fairly quickly after his debut film De Lift, it is quite clear that Down is really a completely different kind of film, even if the story is almost the same. Everything is set up on a grander scale, with the result that it is also a lot less charming. The film takes itself a little too seriously. The main characters are just boring creatures and the acting is pretty bad; especially from Naomi Watts you wouldn't expect this film to come out during the period when she grew into a big name. But hey, if even people like Ron Perlman and Michael Ironside don't really spice up your movie, then you're doing something wrong. The best thing about Down are the moments when the film really goes awry, with some lousy late 90s CGI. Unintentionally, the film is still quite witty, but it is far too long to be fun entertainment. The funniest fact is that the film came out just a few days before September 11, 2001, but in the meantime has notes in the script about an attack on the World Trade Center and Bin Laden.

2 stars.

Very bad movie! It doesn't come close to the original at all, although there are similar events in it, but also very badly acted. you would prefer to turn off the TV.
