Can You Hear Me? plot

In the final days of World War I, the charming American officer Samuel is mortally wounded at the front in France. In a moment of desperation, he makes a pact with the Almighty to return to his wife Annabel in England one last time. As Samuel returns home and resumes his normal life with Annabel, he slowly discovers that he is no longer a flesh-and-blood man, but a soul between worlds. Annabel, pregnant and still unaware of the truth, lives under the illusion that her husband has returned—until a telegram confronts her with the inevitable end.
