"M-G-M's Technicolor fiesta!"

Perky opera singer Suzette Micheline meets fisherman Pepe in the Louisiana bayou. The fisherman loves to sing and Suzette's agent Jacques Riboudeaux convinces him to join an opera company in New Orleans. However, his background sometimes causes a stir on posh occasions. When Pepe and Suzette fall in love, Jacques begins to regret his decision.
