State Fair plot
Abel Frake (Tom Ewell) and his wife Melissa (Alice Faye) are farmers in Iowa. They enthusiastically go to the big city to participate in the pie filling and pork competition during the State Fair. Their kids aren't very happy, because Wayne (Pat Boone) has a girlfriend who can't go with them and Margy's (Pamela Tiffin) boyfriend is just boring. But things change when Wayne falls for showgirl Emily Porter (Ann-Margret) and Margy also gets the attention of a handsome young man. And even Abel's prize pig, Blue Boy, is having the time of his life!
