Stairway for a Star plot

Casting agency employee Susan James and former actor and now press agent Jimmy Banks unsuccessfully try to find work for aspiring actress Jane Adams. Secretly in love with Jane, Jimmy is devastated that Jane is giving up Hollywood and returning to Boston. To help hapless Jimmy and Jane, Susan teams up with unemployed director George Blanck to make a comeback.
