Gräfin Mariza plot

Tassilo, the new steward of Countess Mariza's estate, is in reality an impoverished young baron. With his new incognito job, he tries to earn money for his younger sister's studies. His employer is admittedly attracted to Tassilo, but she is also annoyed by the lack of submission that a subordinate should have. Her circle of friends thinks she should punish Tassilo by firing him, but Mariza can't control her temper and love in the end. Based on an opera by Emmerich Kálmán, which was adapted for film adaptation by Max Glass.
