Yvonne Nguyen aspires to an acting career, especially in musicals. However, her mother would prefer to see her take a more stable job that offers financial security. In the kitchen, while preparing traditional family dishes, mother and daughter find a language through which they get to know and understand each other better. It is here that they manage to accept each other and themselves.
