Broadway to Hollywood plot
"The star-studded cavalcade of the theatre!"
Ted Sr. and Lulu Hackett make up the entertainers 'The Hacketts' and are a fairly successful singing and dancing team. They adopt their son Ted Jr. into their team and he is immediately successful. Ted is offered a lead role on 'Broadway' and he arranges for his parents to appear on the show with him. But Ted Sr. sadly finds out that they only perform for their son's pleasure, but not for the public. He then returns to his hometown with Lulu. Meanwhile, Ted Jr. married and he fathers a son, but he is increasingly hindered by a drinking problem.
