A Hiphop Minute plot
In 1986, a Dutch film crew led by Bram van Splunteren travels to New York to make a documentary about hip hop. The presenter - a young Marcel Vanthilt - does not know which artists he will get in front of the camera. In the end, the team recruits very young rappers such as LL COOL J, Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash. 'Big Fun in the Big Town' becomes a cult classic and inspires many Dutch hip hop artists, including the young Belgian Pascal Garnier. Garnier, who is now a rapper, DJ and filmmaker himself, makes a sequel to this documentary thirty-five years later. In 'A Hiphop Minute' he combines original footage with new interviews and offers a raw, personal insight into the lives of the hip hop legends. The protagonists have grown older and wiser, but their eyes still twinkle when they talk about their Golden Age.
