Not a particularly remarkable supernatural thriller starring Lou Diamond Philips. Now, Lou isn't exactly a great leading man to begin with, but he does a pretty decent job here. Okay, he still doesn't come across as convincing as an agent, but it comes close.

The story is simple and predictable. Nowhere does the film become even remotely scary or suspenseful.

Fun for a one-time visit, but otherwise it's nothing special!

2.5*

Purebred B-pulp about a cop hunting a satanic killer. The dialogue and plot development are full of errors and flaws. Forget the plot details quickly, otherwise this is of no use to you. First Power aims for a good hour and a half of relaxation with action and violence, and in that regard, it is reasonably decent. The redhead playing Philips is Tracy Griffith, a half-sister of the more famous Melanie. The bad guy is a letdown, and certainly the way the "takeovers" are handled, like with that nun. In this genre, "The Hidden" and "Fallen," which this reminds one of, are significantly better developed.

A decent film in which a police officer hunts down a serial killer with supernatural powers. Not exactly the most original story, and also quite thinly developed. A better introduction would have been appropriate as well. Still, this pulp movie is an easy watch, partly due to the fine location work in Los Angeles and the excellent stunt work. A narrow 3.0 stars.
