A professor becomes obsessed with the idea of communicating with his late wife through electronic devices. He leaves university and rents a secluded house to continue his experiments. He hires a sinister householder and a deforming assistant.

Reasonable Frankenstein-like horror with a reasonably acting Karloff from whose
cranky acting I am generally not very charmed. With a not bad
affected atmosphere especially in the scenes when the somewhat confused professor with his
experiment is underway.

Nice to see Boris Karloff at work again without a monster outfit. Although the storyline is anyway close to his iconic associate: unworldly scientist wants to make contact with the dead. The highlight is in the second half thanks to the gothic atmosphere in an old dark house. Nice fun this.
